Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Team Leader) Location: Birmingham, On-SiteRole Type: PermanentSalary: £60k - £70k, some flexibility, depending on experienceJob Description:We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead a team of electrical design engineers and drive efficiency and profitability within the department. This role focuses on identifying and implementing improvements, ensuring the team meets deadlines, and championing the development and implementation of standards and processes to standardise the design process.As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will also be involved in the hands-on design aspects, overseeing product designs, and implementing de-risking and design proving techniques to ensure compliance with all technical and legislative requirements.Responsibilities and Tasks:Ensure the technical compliance of electrical designs to customer specifications, including safety and legislative requirements.Take a senior role in design and project reviews, ensuring suitable data is available and conducting reviews professionally.Produce design documentation (performance calculations, test plans, material and component selection justifications, etc.) to a high standard for technical reviews.Oversee the internal engineering management of project teams, ensuring quality work is produced within agreed timescales.Manage external engineers, ensuring contractors and design houses produce quality work on time.Interface with customers to manage their requirements, including regular communication, project calls, and hosting formal and informal reviews.Liaise with internal departments for problem-solving, achieving business goals, and working closely with the projects team.Help define and implement engineering standards across all projects.Support various projects with design engineering activities as needed, including ensuring technical compliance and producing electrical schematic/circuit diagrams and necessary design documentation.Accountabilities:Work with Project Managers and the Technical Manager to ensure effective task allocation.Ensure the team’s deliverables meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.Manage day-to-day operations within the team, maintaining high levels of motivation and welfare.Develop team members through regular reviews, mentoring, and identifying training needs, assisting in monitoring PDP activities.Manage the use of engineering tools (E-Plan, PDM works, etc.) and implement process improvements as needed.Assist in the recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.Provide hands-on design solutions and guidance to other team members as a Senior Electrical Engineer.Additional Information:Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Thursday (07:30 - 16:00) and Friday (07:30 - 12:30), with flexibility between 06:30 and 08:30 for start times and between 15:00 and 17:00 for finish times.Home Working: Occasional adhoc basis, with preference for onsite attendance 5 days a week.Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays, with some days used for Christmas shutdown.Pension: Auto enrolment into standard workplace pension scheme with Aegon.Company Sick Pay: Scheme available after two years of service.Life Assurance Scheme: Enrolment available after two years of service.Subsidised Festive Celebration.Casual business dress with a dress down Friday.Relaxed and friendly culture with inclusive values of professionalism, respect, innovation, development, and ethics.If you are a motivated individual with a passion for electrical design and leadership, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.Anthony HowsonSenior Recruitment Specialist in/anthony-howson+
