A vibrant primary school in the heart of Handsworth B20 is seeking a confident and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support pupils who need help managing their emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning.

This is a long-term, full-time role working closely with children who may display challenging behaviour due to underlying social, emotional or mental health needs (SEMH). You'll play a key role in helping them build confidence, stay focused, and thrive in school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations and encourage positive behaviour choices
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and class teachers to put support plans in place
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote resilience and self-regulation
  • Create a calm, safe space where children feel heard and supported

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with behavioural or SEMH needs (school or youth work setting ideal)
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
