Job Title: IT Helpdesk Field Technician Salary: £32,000 - £34000Hours of Work: 40 hours per week with flexibility as needed.Position Overview:We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Helpdesk/Technical Support Specialist. This position requires flexibility, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Based in Birmingham, the successful candidate will also be required to travel to other UK sites including Wolverhampton, Liverpool, Bridgend, and Dagenham as necessary.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide helpdesk and technical support for UK branches, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.
  • Work flexible shifts (AM/PM) and be available after hours for critical issues, including night duty on a rotating basis.
  • Prioritise daily activities and respond to potential IT emergencies, directing issues to the appropriate channels.
  • Perform recurring tasks such as new user creation and workstation/laptop deployment.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties, including business partners, suppliers, and customers.
  • Demonstrate proactiveness in learning new technologies and adapting to changes in IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team, providing feedback and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to company protocols and procedures, maintaining meticulous records of tasks performed.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows XP – Windows 11) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Basic Linux knowledge (console-based).
  • Experience in diagnostics, maintenance, and minor repairs of company equipment.
  • Familiarity with common system services, networking technologies, and visualisation technologies.
  • Basic SQL knowledge (preferably for MS SQL Environment).
  • Experience with remote desktop technologies and Cisco Meraki is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to different locations within the UK, with potential travel to other jurisdictions if required.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to undergo training remotely and potentially in-person.
