Location: South Birmingham

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join our team in South Birmingham. We cater to 11-17-year-olds primarily with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and various other special educational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEND, ensuring differentiation and inclusion.
  • Create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that promotes engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including support staff and therapists, to provide holistic support to students.
  • Implement and adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of students with ASD and other special educational needs.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience working with students with SEND, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of ASD and other special educational needs, along with evidence-based strategies to support learning and development.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively plan and deliver differentiated lessons.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to practice.
