ACR are recruiting a SeniorOffice Manager on a full-time and permanent basis, for a client based in Blackburn. This opportunity offers excellent benefits including a 38 day annual leave entitlement, free lunch provided every day, private healthcare and an excellent starting salary.

The successful candidate will manage the front of house and administration function including line managing three members of staff. The Office Manager will oversee the department, prioritise and delegate tasks and deal with any escalations from team members.

This is a senior role within a successful, leading independent School; presence, confidence and professionalism will be expected. The successful candidate will be expected to use analytical skills, initiative and experience to confidently deliver solutions to the unexpected within a very busy school environment; excellent organisation skills are essential in order to handle the variety of tasks required to be undertaken.

What will be expected of you:

The objective of this role is to manage the front of house department and to deliver an effective and efficient centralised support service. The Office Manager will manage and mentor their team, including the allocation and monitoring of work, appraisal and training for all front of house staff.

  • Organise the office function as a central point of contact for colleagues, students, contractors and parents, ensuring efficient daily operations.
  • Coordinate the delegation of admin tasks across the office team.
  • Set the team objectives in conjunction with the Head of Operations.
  • Ensure all team members manage the business email accounts
  • Ensure all team members follow safeguarding procedures and visitors policies including issuing passes.
  • Ensure all team members effectively deal with telephone calls (three ring policy)
  • Line manage the front of house administration team, including 1-2-1 appraisals.
  • Lead the rental of facilities and assist with preparations for School events, projects and functions.
  • Manage the coach services for pupils
  • Coordinating the Staff/Student weekly information notices.
  • Proof-reading all notices/letters via all communication channels, including the school website.
  • Review office systems to identifying improvements for best practice and efficiencies.
  • Liaise regularly with the senior leadership team and internal departments
  • Assist with the maintenance of databases (SIMS), updating records and producing reports as required
  • Work jointly with the Executive Assistants to ensure an efficient and effective support service
  • Follow an outlined evacuation policy and maintain safety of staff and pupils under the guidance of fire and safety training.

Person specification:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in office management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven leadership and management abilities
  • Excellent organisational and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages and ICT software
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • First Aid qualification desirable, not essential
  • Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, and health & safety
  • Experience within a School or working with SIMS would be a bonus but is not essential
