The Business
This business is a world leader in the manufacture of machinery with their headquarters in Bolton. They are a high growth company with a turnover exceeding £50m and impressive EBITDA figures for this financial year.


The Finance Team
The Assistant Accountant will join a good sized finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager along with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable clerks.


The Role
This business is seeking an Assistant Accountant who will support in managing the company financial accounts and processes, and working with other departments to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and insightful. Whilst the role will initially start within Financial Accounts, there will be opportunities over time to gain exposure within commercial accounts.


You will get involved in:

  • Month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journals, reconciling accounts, depreciation postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analysing overheads and sending to budget holders
  • Supporting with budget and forecast preparation
  • Taking responsibility for accurate and timely CIS and VAT submissions
  • Intercompany reconciliations including payments to subsidiaries and submission to group company
  • Cash management including downloading cash, payment uploads, bank reconciliations and cash requirements
  • Maintaining IFRS 16 lease reports
  • Assisting with internal audits and compliance checks across the business
  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of financial controls and processes
  • Assisting on commercial tasks including raising POs, SOs and updating project costs



Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally in manufacturing
  • Advanced MS Office skills including VLOOKUP and Pivot tables
  • Experience of using SAP
  • A 'can do' attitude with ability to use own initiative to find new ways of working and improve processes
  • A multitasker with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
