We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our client's team in Edinburgh for an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering technical solutions that enhance their Housing Management Registers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upgrade the Housing Management Registers to comply with accessibility standards.
- Improve operational efficiency for administrative users and enhance the user experience.
- Optimize citizen interactions with the registers while ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
- Support and maintain system components underpinning the registers.
- Enhance the Housing Management product portfolio based on customer feedback.
- Develop and support Housing Management products in alignment with product and architecture roadmaps.
- Demonstrate sustainable and collaborative software development practices focused on delivering high-quality artefacts.
- Actively participate in team events, providing specialist knowledge and supporting process improvement.
- Engage with wider communities of practice to share knowledge, techniques, and experience.
- Ensure high-quality solutions through unit testing, code analysis, and adherence to non-functional requirements.
- Use collaborative development practices such as pairing and mobbing techniques.
- Support disaster recovery assurance of digital services.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Significant commercial experience with Java 11+ and JavaScript UI frameworks, particularly React.
- Proficiency in HTML/CSS and awareness of accessibility considerations.
- Experience with REST APIs and AWS.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality software in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to design and implement technical solutions for software development projects.
- Familiarity with Digital First or GDS quality standards.
- Knowledge of microservice and event-based architectures.
- Experience with human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices.
- Proficiency in unit testing and system test automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring, telemetry, and intelligence tools.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery models and XP engineering techniques.
- Experience with UI pattern libraries and code quality tools.
- Ability to define infrastructure as code.
