My client a Tier 1 Construction and Civil Engineering contractor with multiple offices nationwide are seeking to employ on a permanent basis a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor within the south coast. Working on a wide range of schemes including newbuild, refurbishment & extension build projects for both private and public sector clients, projects ranging from 100K - 500M.

They are seeking to employ on a permanent basis a HSE Advisor with a solid construction/ civil engineering background.

Ideally, you will be based around the Hampshire/ Dorset region, with multiple projects along the South Coast. Covering up to 6 sites at once.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Keep up to date with the latest HSQE requirements including legislation an best practice.
  • Provide support to the directors and management teams in all aspects of HSQE setting the highest standards by personal example.
  • Ensure Site Management is aware of and provided with up-to-date HSQE documentation
  • Advise and propose on policy and procedure amendment as required to meet the changing needs of the company and continual improvement.
  • Represent the company to clients and other external parties including the relevant enforcement agencies.
  • Assist in the facilitation of external audits to external certification organizations and other external bodies.
  • Assist with HSQE requirements at pre-qualification and bid stages.
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments and method statements where appropriate for the project teams.
  • Conduct HSQE Audits and Inspections on sites and for premises
  • Investigate accidents and incidents preparing detailed reports with recommendations as directed by the Head of HSQE
  • Liaise with insurers in respect of claims and investigations for incidents including motor related incidents.
  • Assist with the preparation of various HSQE Awareness briefings, toolbox talks, alerts etc. in line with operational requirements.
  • Attend meetings both internal and external to represent the HSQE team as appropriate.
  • Actively promote and support the Right Works programme partaking in joint reviews with divisional directors for the annual awards.

About You:

  • Previous experience within the civils/ construction sectors.
  • NEBOSH general certificate, or equivalent CEnv, or equivalent
  • Extensive experience within a civil engineering environment
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills Client facing experience
  • Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations
  • High standard of written English
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills, including professional telephone manner
  • Ability to liaise with staff and operatives at all levels
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package
  • CSCS Safety Professional card
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone
  • High quality standards, e.g. attention to detail Ability to lead by/set a good example
  • A passion for Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
