Job Title: Special Education Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Some exciting opportunities have arisen for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our schools in Bournemouth for immediate or September 2024 start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, ensuring they have equal access to the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social and emotional development.
  • Assist in the assessment and tracking of student progress, communicating effectively with teachers, parents, and other relevant professionals.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Education, Teaching Assistance, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with SEN, preferably within a school setting.
  • Understanding of various special educational needs and the ability to tailor support accordingly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEN.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of relevant assistive technologies and resources.
  • Training in safeguarding and first aid.
  • Experience with specific SEN conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia).
