Assistant Accountant - Temp to perm - £40.000 per annum - Bracknell - Office based

My client needs someone who can meet the set deadline dates so that the Financial Controller is able to prepare the Management Accounts on time for the monthly Management and quarterly Board meetings and assist with compiling the year end audit file by:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Nominal Ledger by posting from various source documents.
  • Each month reconcile various nominal ledger accounts
  • Reverse and amend Deferred Income details each month
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly management accounts. Posting of specific journals.
  • Assist with the preparation of the year end Audit file.
  • Set up of yearly recurring journals and cost and project codes where necessary.
  • Understanding the importance of the correct VAT code to our partial exemption calculation.
  • Collate purchase orders
  • Check/Obtain the FC approval and confirmation that the nominal ledger
  • Ensure that all invoices have been authorised by a manager or department head, particularly those that do not have a po eg legal.
  • Check expense claims in the same way as a supplier invoice.
  • Scan the batch processed and file the processed and scanned invoices and attachments.
  • Check the purchase ledger mid month and EOM for any payments due
