Are you an experienced and confident Financial Accountant looking for a new challenge in the public sector? Do you have excellent communication and analytical skills? If yes, then I have an exciting opportunity for you!This is a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join a growing non-profit organisation. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Bradford.

As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the finance function of the organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies
  • Preparing and presenting monthly and quarterly reporting packs, including financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Working closely with investment contractors, monitoring and evaluating the returns and risks of the organisation's portfolio
  • Reviewing and approving expenses claims, invoices, and payments
  • Completing the annual accounts and liaising with external auditors
  • Overseeing and supporting the Assistant Accountant in their daily tasks
  • Managing and challenging budget holders across the organisation, providing them with financial advice and guidance
  • Collaborating with the fundraising team and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment of financial and strategic objectives

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised accounting qualification or relevant experience
  • Experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis, preferably in the public sector
  • Strong Excel and IT skills, including experience with accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, directors, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to challenge and influence budget holders and decision makers
