About the Role:

As a DT Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the Design and Technology department. You will support both staff and students, ensuring the smooth running of practical lessons and the effective use of equipment and resources. Your expertise will help create an inspiring learning environment where students can develop their practical skills and creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and tools for practical lessons and projects
  • Maintain and repair equipment, ensuring all tools are in safe working order
  • Assist teachers during lessons, providing technical support and guidance to students
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and ensure the safe storage of materials
  • Support the implementation of health and safety procedures within the department
  • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment
  • Provide one-on-one support to students working on projects, offering advice and assistance as needed
  • Keep detailed records of equipment and material usage

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a DT Technician in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of DT equipment, tools, and materials
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance
  • Commitment to upholding health and safety standards
  • Effective communication skills with both students and staff
