Essential -

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care OR the equivalent.

The home supports and meets the needs of up to 4 young people of mixed gender from the ages of 11 to 18.

They have a range of social, emotional and behavioral needs that can present as difficult behavior, due to their early life experiences and present situations.

Many of the young people will have experienced trauma at a young age and so find it difficult to understand and control their thoughts and feelings around this. The young people may have significant attachment issues and will often find it very difficult to build and maintain positive trusting relationships with adults and their peers. The young people may have experienced bereavement and loss and the impact of that loss, can be overwhelming for them.

Some of the young people who live at the home will need additional support around access to education and health services such as CAMHS. They may also require support around substance and alcohol misuse and smoking cessation.

Young people may be in the criminal justice system and will need support around their criminal behaviour, restorative justice and reparation.

It is our aim and ambition to provide inspirational care, tailored to the individual needs of the young people living at the home.

Through support, encouragement and our 'Model of Care', we aim to create a stable and secure base, where young people have a sense of belonging and where they can begin to understand, address and work through their past experience and present difficulties and behaviours and be able to prepare for and achieve their full potential in their futures.

The Role -
The Assistant Childrens Residential Home Manager has primary responsibility for assisting and supporting the Registered Manager in day-to-day management of the home, recruitment, staff induction and development and implementing appropriate care, therapeutic, clinical and risk management programmes and plans. In the absence of the Home Manager has overall management responsibility for the home.

The Assistant Home Manager will work in partnership with the Registered Manager to model best practice and lead on interventions to train and develop others as required. You will be part of an aspirational culture and approach to improve and develop the Children's Residential Service to achieve its vision of providing high quality care and support to children, young people and their families as stated in the Children's Homes Statement of Purpose.
