Are you a qualified Motor Vehicle or HGV Mechanic and looking for a new office-based opportunity to continue using your vehicle diagnostic skills but somewhere warmer?

My client is a vehicle warranty & insurance provider and requires your skills set to qualify Europe claims via telephone and email. You will be mostly based in the modern offices in Thornbury - Bradford near Pudsey in Leeds and part home based.

Dealing with European customer claims and general telephone enquiries received from customers, dealerships and end users.

Delivering an exceptional customer experience, you’ll use your expert technical knowledge and experience to authorise claims and negotiate claim payments for mechanical vehicle breakdowns, parts and labour rates which can involve very high values.

You will need to hold City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 certificate (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Engineering, with previous experience working in a Motor Vehicle Mechanical environment, excellent customer service skills and be IT literate.

The company are the leading provider of award-winning vehicle warranty and asset protection products.

What will I be doing?

  • We are expanding our team of 50 qualified Technicians who take calls from repairers and customers, discussing repairs to make sure that the repair is covered by the warranty and that the repair costs are accurate.
  • Effectively, the successful person will join a team of likeminded techs working on a rota of one week in the office and two weeks at home or 2 days each week in the office and 3 days at home.
  • Each person takes around 60 varied calls each day from both repairers and customers that need our help in approving warranty claims or support regarding their warranty.
  • Full training is given to ensure candidates are knowledgeable on our systems and products.

What skills are expected?

  • Successful candidates should have a good knowledge of vehicle repairs. It doesn’t really matter whether the experience is related to cars, vans, trucks or busses (or even trains or tanks!) but the candidate must have NVQ level 3 or City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft Studies qualifications.
  • It’s helpful if the successful candidate has reasonable PC skills as the role entails entering data on our main database as well as using some other software applications.
  • The shouldn’t worry too much about the systems or warranty knowledge as a full induction and training plan is used to get successful candidates up-to-speed and we don’t get new candidates on the phones until the candidate & we are confident.

What training is given?

  • As mentioned, a full induction training plan is provided to all successful candidates. This starts off with a ‘training buddy’ showing the system, processing simple transactions and then moving on to simple claim calls. After that, when the candidate is confident, we move onto the detailed technical calls. We know this take a while but we are in it for the long game so we don’t try to cut corners on training.
  • It’s helpful if the successful candidate has reasonable PC skills as the role entails entering data on our main database as well as using some other software applications however again, full systems training is provided to successful candidates.

What are the working hours, holidays and benefits like?

  • Work life balance is a big thing and whilst we expect team members to work hard, we also expect team members to relax hard too. The working week is 37.5 hours.
  • We run three shifts. The ‘Early’ shift starts at 8:30am and finishes at 4:45pm. The main shift runs from 8:45am to 5:00pm and the ‘late shift’ starts at 9:15am and finishes at 5:30pm. As it’s call centre type work, team members generally finish on-time.
  • Staff get a 45 minute lunch break
  • Break allowances are taken through the day when staff need to top up on caffeine levels.
  • We open on a Saturday morning between 9:00am to 12:30pm. The team cover this on rota basis and typically, it’s 1 in 3 / 1 in 4 cover. Saturdays are paid overtime at time & half.
  • In return staff get 25 days annual leave. A further 8-10 days annual leave are currently given to all employees as a ‘goodwill gesture’ so that makes the total days off at 33-35 per year. Staff can also buy a further 5 days annual leave!

I have immediate interviews with this warm and friendly company, please feel free to call me with any questions.

I look forward to receiving your application and speaking with you.
