The Technical Project Engineer will be the engineering lead to define and deliver new engineering projects that enhance the manufacturing capability of the Bridgwater site. They will be responsible for the successful delivery of engineering projects through execution of a structured engineering project lifecycle. Examples of project scope include introduction of new machinery, refurbishment of major equipment and introducing automation to the production line.

As a key member of the Technical Engineering team the Technical Project Engineer will work with the Engineering Technical team, colleagues from Bridgwater and other sites. They will also take the lead on identifying and liaising with external suppliers as required to execute projects.

The Technical Project Engineer will use their experience and expertise in manufacturing and state of the art technology to influence the site's Engineering Strategy and guide and develop their colleagues in the team.

The Technical Project Engineer will be instrumental in defining and executing an engineering strategy to deliver relevant aspects of the TSSB business plan. They will also play an important role in supporting the development of working practices and skills within the team.



Primary responsibly will be to lead delivery of technical engineering projects to introduce new manufacturing capability and automation to TSSB. This will include the following activities:

Identify opportunities and requirements for engineering projects to enhance TSSB capability

Develop effective engineering concepts that address the requirements. Undertake design work to define, document and validate the solution concept

Contribute to the preparation of the business case for investment in new equipment

Identify suppliers and work closely with suppliers to define and deliver solutions

Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within operational and budgetary requirements

Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures to enable the safe and effective use of new and enhanced equipment

Deliver safe equipment in accordance with Machinery Directive and other relevant regulations. Performing safety risk assessment, identification and validating compliance against relevant standards and preparation of the technical file for CE marking


2. Education and experience

  • Candidates should have a Level 5 qualification or higher (e.g. HND, degree or equivelent) in an engineering discipline.

Experience of working in an engineering or manufacturing environment

Experience in developing solutions for electro-mechanical machinery, with a balance of experitise in electrical and mechanical disciplines

Experience of machinery integration, control systems and automation

Knowledge of and experience of UK and European machinery regulations and relevant standards

Experience of leading successful engineering projects through a structured engineering project lifecycle

Making timely and informed decisions - with documented supporting evidence

IT skills - MS Office, MS Project.

Excellent technical writing skills to document engineering evidence with clarity

Goal oriented - motivated to deliver what is important when it is needed
