Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager to join our local authority client in Somerset. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety of all occupants in multi-occupied High-Rise Residential Buildings and designated building types, including Low-Rise Residential Buildings. The successful candidate will be a registered named Building Safety Manager responsible for the development, management, and distribution of information related to the design, construction, and maintenance of high-rise residential buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all in-scope buildings meet legislative requirements for structural and fire safety.
  • Oversee the safe management of high-rise and/or higher-risk residential buildings within Housing and Landlord Services' building stock.
  • Implement and oversee controls related to structural and fire safety on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure planned, preventive maintenance is carried out within the managed housing stock.
  • Manage resident engagement within high-rise and/or higher-risk housing stock, ensuring safety concerns are recorded, monitored, and addressed appropriately.
  • Engage with relevant internal housing staff to ensure roles are performed effectively in accordance with the Corporate Fire Safety Policy.
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective actions arising from fire risk assessments and audits.
  • Ensure facilities for use by the fire and rescue service are effectively managed and maintained.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered as a named Building Safety Manager.
  • Extensive experience in managing structural and fire safety in residential buildings, particularly high-rise buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative requirements and best practices related to building safety.
  • Proven experience in managing planned, preventive maintenance within residential housing stock.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills to manage resident concerns and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the implementation of corrective actions from fire risk assessments and audits.
