Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking a day Shift Supervisor for a rare opportunity to work for a leading client organisation in the Bridgwater area.


Working alternating weeks one week 06.00am - 14.00pm and the next 2pm - 10pm finishing early on a Friday 1pm and 8pm.


Summary of the role:

As a Shift Supervisor, you will represent a key role within operations and manufacturing. Responsible for supporting the Production Manager and the departments team of staff you will ensure that smooth work flow is achieved. Utilising labour and equipment effectively to produce a high-quality product delivered on time.

Salary 37,000-39500 per annum


Job Requirements:

* Actively lead and motivate the team and process high quality performance.
* Be able to demonstrate impacts on business performance and how to put improvement's in place to resolve issues affecting the KPI's
* Efficiently plan resources for the production line and raise resourcing concerns to the Production Manager when relevant and make appropriate suggestions to resolve the issues yourself first
* Review and action productivity measure on a weekly basis
* Undertake daily board meetings with the team, and ensure actions are taken to correct any KPI which is not meeting target
* Deal with investigations, disciplinary, grievance issues, as necessary and in line with the company procedure, ensuring that the Production Manager is kept informed
* Manage attendance and sickness levels for your area in line with company targets. Ensure return to work interviews are conducted within 24 hours of staff returning; raising concerns to the Production Manager and/or HR Business Partner, where appropriate
* Manage performance of staff, ensuring targets are set, and deadlines are met in line with Company policy in discussion with the Production Manager and HR Business Partner
* Where training is required identify needs and liaise with the Production Manager, taking responsibility to ensure that appropriate training is delivered
* Daily monitoring of Time & Attendance - identify issues and resolve
* Authorisation of holidays and other types of absence, being mindful of Company policy ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained
* Ensure employees are working full shifts, starting and finishing on time
* Ensure quality targets are met and take the lead in root cause analysis events to understand cause and prevent re-occurrence
* Fully support continuous improvement and lean program. Demonstrating initiatives with consistent improvements and measurable results
* In conjunction with the Production Engineers look to assist in best practice and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods / processes
* Attend and support meetings when required as directed by management


Education and Experience:

* Line Management experience
* Relevant industry background in a similar role
* Professional qualification in production management is desirable
* Engineering or industry relevant experience


Leadership skills:

* Excellent organisational and planning skills are essential
* Good strong team player with the ability to influence others, lead and motivate a team
* Demonstrable experience in people management
* Strong PC skills, able to use Microsoft office suite, including but not limited to; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (in English)
* Have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety requirements within the workplace
* Committed to continuous improvement and demonstrate and understanding of lean principles
* Strong numerical skills
* Good problem-solving skills
