Assessment & Examinations Officer (PGR)

My client, a Brighton based University, are seeking an Assessment & Examinations Officer (PGR) to join their Student Experience/Academic Services team. This role is integral to providing dedicated support for the assessment and examination arrangements for students registered on a PhD programme. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, ensuring the smooth operation of PGR assessments and examinations.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Oversee the formal appointment of internal and external examiners and the processing of thesis submissions.
  • Prepare documentation for the Research Degrees Examination Board and Senate Awards Ratification Committee.
  • Maintain up-to-date student records and ensure the accuracy of the list of students eligible to graduate.
  • Provide support for examination arrangements for students requiring alternative provisions due to disability or learning differences.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of policies and procedures related to PGR student assessment and examination.
  • Offer professional advice and guidance to colleagues regarding the examination processes.
  • Undertake training programmes for personal and professional development and handle other duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to use initiative and develop ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role and working with computer databases.
  • Excellent MS Office Skills, particularly Excel.
  • A responsible, flexible attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
