Role: Finance Assistant – Sales Ledger & Credit Control
Reporting to: Head of Finance
Location: Bristol
Hours of work: 16 hours per week – 6 month fixed term contract
Job summary: You will be responsible for the invoicing and collections process, ensuring timely payment from customers and minimising outstanding debts. You will work closely with internal departments to monitor and maintain accurate records of transactions. Your goal will be to optimise cash flow and minimise write offs and bad debt risks while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Salary: £24,000 - £25,000 FTE depending on experience

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Issue invoices accurately and promptly to customers
- Follow up on overdue payments through phone calls, emails and letters.
- Analyse aged debt reports and take proactive measures to reduce outstanding balances
- Identify and escalate potential bad debts or payment disputes to management for resolution
- Coordinate with sales and editorial teams to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions including invoices, payments and communications with customers
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Credit Controller or similar role
- Strong understanding of Credit Control principles
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and preferably Sage accounting software
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
