Citadel Source are delighted to be partnering on an exclusive basis with Hartnell Taylor Cook to recruit an Assistant Head of Client Accounting to support the Head of Client Accounting due to the strong growth of the business over recent years.

About the Client

Hartnell Taylor Cook is an established independent consultancy providing a comprehensive commercial property service throughout the UK. With offices in Bristol and London, HTC manages over £3.5bn of client buildings as well as providing specialist advice in areas covering Investment, Offices, Industrial, Retail and Building Surveying and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.

About the Role

This varied role will encompass all aspects of Client Accounting and applicants will need to demonstrate good commerciality as well as attention to detail. The successful candidate will be a good communicator as positive interaction between colleagues in different departments is essential to providing a joined-up service to our clients.

It is important that new clients have a good experience from the outset so client contact will be a vital part of the role. As an organisation, HTC aspires to the highest standards of professionalism and the successful candidate is expected to embrace their core values.

Following several years of rapid growth this role is now required as the team prepares for further expansion. With new processes being introduced and several junior team members including an apprentice being added recently, assisting with training and development of their skills is an important part of the role.

As the Assistant Head of Client Accounting your role willinclude but not be limited to:

  • Assisting with the management of an established and competent team of twelve colleagues
  • Interacting with all aspects of the client accounting function ensuring the smooth running of the purchase and sales ledgers ensuring deadlines are met
  • Assisting with the completion of property service charge year end accounts by the team
  • Communication with key stakeholders including Partners and Directors of HTC to drive improvements
  • Interaction with clients including meeting attendance to understand their specific needs, interpret their requirements and respond appropriately to develop the relationships
  • Lease review to ensure all relevant information is captured and charges raised in accordance with RICS guidelines
  • Liaise with Property Management colleagues to accurately plan service charge budgets and maintain cash flow to ensure client liabilities are satisfied
  • Overseeing the review of rent ledgers and bank account reconciliations to ensure timely payment of funds to clients
  • Provision of VAT reports and preparation of client reporting packs within the agreed time scales
  • Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to develop junior team members and drive process change within the department whilst maintaining a tight control environment

Qualifications / Skills

  • Accounting qualification with experience of managing colleagues
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with ability to build strong working relationships with various clients and colleagues alike
  • Ability to analyse financial information and disseminate to non-finance people
  • A strong work ethic as well as the ability to delegate appropriately
  • Numerate, accurate and with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritise the team’s workload
  • Experience within a commercial property environment with knowledge of TRAMPS software desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of RICS money handling regulations and NRL procedures desirable but not essential
