Contentious Probate Lawyer

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor or FCILEx with 0-4 years’ Post Qualification Experience (PQE) to join our esteemed Contentious Probate team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for professional growth within a Legal 500 team known for excellence in handling high-value, complex trusts and estate cases.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Build and manage your own caseload under the guidance and supervision of experienced team members.
  • Handle a variety of cases including trust and will disputes, disputes arising out of lifetime transactions, burial and ashes disputes, grant disputes, and claims by and against personal representatives.
  • Advise clients, draft necessary documentation, ensure compliance with all relevant protocols, and attend hearings.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Family, Court of Protection, and Probate and Estate Administration to provide comprehensive legal advice.
  • Work within a learning-focused environment that encourages professional development and cross-departmental cooperation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Solicitor or Fellow Chartered Legal Executive with 0-4 years’ PQE.
  • Experience in litigation and/or private client work, with a focus or interest in contentious trusts and probate.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Client-focused with an empathetic approach to handling emotional circumstances and complex issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • IT proficiency and confidence in using modern case management systems.
  • Membership or willingness to work towards membership in ACTAPS and STEP is highly regarded.
