What you'll do:

As a Private Client Solicitor based in Bristol, you will:

  • Manage day-to-day conduct of private client files, ensuring all aspects of work connected with wills, probate, trusts, estates, tax matters, powers of attorney, and Court of Protection are handled with care and precision.
  • Act as a key point of contact for private client enquiries received by any office, primarily supporting the Bristol and Gloucester locations but also assisting other offices as required.
  • Handle queries from colleagues across multiple offices, demonstrating flexibility by occasionally travelling between sites when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with support staff in a positive and proactive manner to ensure seamless service delivery for clients.
  • Liaise regularly with the Legal Director regarding financial budgeting, billing targets, and identifying relevant training opportunities to enhance your skills.
  • Assist senior members of the department with substantial case files, providing dependable support especially during periods of holiday or sickness within the team.
  • Apply proper professional standards at all times by adhering to best practice guidelines outlined in the office manual and maintaining high levels of personal organisation.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to clients' needs by acting promptly, efficiently, and empathetically in all client matters while upholding confidentiality at every stage.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based records for all clients in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate actively in business development initiatives such as preparing articles for local publications or engaging in networking events to promote the department's services.

What you bring:

To excel as a Private Client Solicitor in this role, you will bring:

  • Registered Solicitor compliant with SRA standards or Fellow Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEX) status is required for this role.
  • A minimum of two years' post-qualification experience (PQE) handling private client matters such as wills, probate, trusts, estates administration, tax planning, powers of attorney, and Court of Protection issues is essential.
  • STEP qualification would be advantageous but is not mandatory; candidates willing to pursue further accreditation are encouraged.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information sensitively while maintaining excellent attention to detail under pressure is vital.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds as well as colleagues across multiple offices.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the capacity to prioritise tasks efficiently in order to meet strict deadlines without compromising quality.
  • A proactive approach towards business development activities including writing articles for publication or attending networking events is highly valued.
  • Adaptability and willingness to travel occasionally between offices when required will ensure effective collaboration within the wider team.
