Our client, a global leader in advanced technology solutions, is seeking a skilled Technical Author to join their team at a cutting-edge facility in Severn Beach, Bristol.
This role involves creating and refining high-quality technical documentation to support innovative products used in high-tech industries. Youll collaborate with diverse teams to ensure accuracy and clarity, playing a pivotal role in delivering exceptional customer experiences. Key Responsibilities
Documentation Creation and Management
- Produce, develop, and maintain clear, concise technical documentation for complex systems
- Peer-review colleagues work, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal guidelines
- Research and analyse technical information to create user-friendly documentation
- Test and update written materials, including validating procedures in engineering labs
Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with engineers, technicians, and subject-matter experts to resolve technical queries
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to support project launches and customer needs
- Communicate technical details effectively to diverse audiences, tailoring content appropriately
Process and Compliance
- Maintain robust documentation systems, including version control and editing processes
- Ensure timely organisation, management, and publication of technical information
- Coordinate with external providers (e.g., translators, printers) to ensure product integrity
- Upload and manage master files for translation into multiple languages
Visual and Technical Support
- Create or source photographs and illustrations to enhance documentation
- Use tools like MadCap Flare, Adobe Acrobat, SolidWorks/SolidEdge, and Microsoft Office effectively
The Person/Qualifications
- Strong technical writing skills with experience in document review cycles
- Proficiency in PC-based applications, including desktop publishing, photo editing, or CAD software
- Ability to research, analyse, and communicate complex technical information
- Familiarity with manufacturing, design processes, or scientific instrumentation (desirable)
- Excellent proofreading, peer-review, and presentation skills
- Understanding of Simplified Technical English (desirable)
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
