Acorn by Synergie is currently in search of an Electrical Plant Engineering Manager for their client in Shotton, driven by career development. This role reports directly to the Works Engineer, forming part of the Senior Engineering Team.

The role's objective is to provide primary engineering expertise and maintain electrical equipment capability for the site. This includes overseeing the shift-based Automation Technicians, Electrical Maintenance Engineers, and HV Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement continuous improvement plans to achieve world-class safety, availability, quality, environmental, and statutory standards within engineering.
  • Manage and drive the safety performance of the team to cultivate a zero-harm culture.
  • Ensure workforce comprehension and compliance with all relevant engineering policies and statutory duties.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key external contract labor support services to optimize cost-effective mechanical and electrical services, particularly during high-demand maintenance periods.
  • Maintain and enhance positive engineering influences on plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) using Root Cause analysis tools and strategic maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering Cells to plan and control all aspects of downshift and shutdown engineering work, utilizing contract services.
  • Identify and execute design/development opportunities to enhance plant reliability, availability, and product quality, utilizing major maintenance strategies and budgets.
  • Provide engineering support for the implementation of capital schemes within Manufacturing as needed.
  • Authorize, monitor, and control expenditure on goods and services within the annual maintenance budget.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Benchmark KPIs to achieve Annual Plan plant reliability, availability, spend, and quality.
  • Lead the development of all elements of the Company Asset Management Framework.
  • Collaborate with Site Development and Engineering as necessary to maintain team performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance cost-effectiveness through effective downshift planning and execution.
  • Lead the adoption of new technology and practices to continue the drive for World-Class operations.
  • Lead and manage the Engineering team to ensure standards are maintained and developed in line with company policy and standards.
  • Ensure personnel are properly trained and succession plans are in place.
  • Develop engineering skills base, including support for the apprentice scheme and the engineering competency development program, to establish a robust succession plan.
  • Drive the implementation of PUWER compliance program for engineering.

Requirements:

  • Hold an Engineering degree or equivalent experience and be working toward Chartered status with the IET.
  • Extensive management experience with a proven track record of delivering results is preferred.
  • Knowledge of strip processing lines is desirable, as is a thorough understanding of Asset Management Systems.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements, including those related to Statutory and HSE, is essential.
  • Aptitude in decision-making, leadership, and problem-solving is crucial.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to business aims and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills and critical thinking ability are necessary.
