Information about the Role:

Working as an Activities Assistant at John Masefield House your duties will include the following:

To lead and encourage residents to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice, and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.

To create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for residents to enjoy.

To work with each new resident to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual social care plan and to evaluate regularly.

To engage the local community into the daily lives of residents by initiating contact with local community groups enabling residents to partake / continue with hobbies and interests as desired.

Information about the Service:

John Masefield House in Oxford is a specialist nursing home supporting adults with physical disability and/or long-term neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, brain injury, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, speech impairment, spina bifida, hydrocephalus or stroke.

Many of our residents require assistance with meals, drinks, and general nutrition. Some residents have communication challenges or cannot communicate verbally. Our dedicated team gets to know everyone well, quickly learning how they communicate so that their needs can be responded to with respect and dignity.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications:

Someone who has a real passion for caring and helping people.

Ideally 12 months experience as an Care Activities Coordinator or 1 year working as an experienced Support Worker / Healthcare Assistant / Domiciliary Carer.

Ability to work on shift/rota pattern.
