Design Engineer

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design team, reporting to the Design Supervisor. This role involves producing and designing drawings for the sales process and for production and workshop teams to assemble and build from. The ideal candidate will be a SolidWorks and AutoCAD expert, capable of creating high-quality 3D models and technical drawings.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Utilise SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce high-quality 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Design and draw complex drawings and share knowledge with the Junior CAD Designer.
  • Amend and update drawings as required and maintain the drawing management system with standard drawings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to create designs from customer briefs.
  • Assist the Design Supervisor with designs and drawings requiring configurations.
  • Support the Business Development Manager and sales team by designing effective solutions while minimising manufacturing costs.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new products, mould designs, and modifications.
  • Ensure production has the correct technical drawings and necessary information.
  • Maintain good relationships with all stakeholders to support drawing and design development and product quality.
  • Recommend and implement innovative ways of working to increase productivity and drawing range.
  • Occasionally support the Sales and Order Processing team with order processing.
  • Provide KPI data as required by the business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Design/Engineering based qualification 
  • Experience in a production/manufacturing environment (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Good project management skills and a proactive continuous improvement mindset.
  • An enthusiastic attitude and eagerness to contribute to the company’s growth.
