Summary:
We are recruiting for a Project Quantity Surveyor who will assist the Commercial Manager in managing the commercial delivery of several sites. You will be responsible for providing Quantity Surveyor services specific to various sites. You will be expected to attend training courses deemed necessary to support you in your role.
The role will be based in Bury St Edmunds and visiting various sites located in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Occasional working at the Head office in Colchester will be needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Project Quantity Surveyor will:
- Carry out site valuations to enable client invoicing and liaise with clients to agree values
- Carry out valuations specific to each trade’s activities and to approve sub-contractor payments as required
- To value variations for both client costs and sub-contractor charges
- Produce and update cashflow forecasts for each project
- Support the commercial delivery of several projects
- Report progress information in relation to project deliverables to the Commercial Manager
- To work closely with the Site Manager to assist in managing and planning the quantity of materials required to meet the programme of construction including monthly invoices approvals
- Always comply with company policies, procedures, and instructions
- Contribute to improving the business, protecting, and enhancing the reputation of the company
- Review contract drawings and specifications and assist in producing finishes schedules
- Review designs and cost any changes
- Ad hoc assistance in business unit tendering
- Be committed to furthering your education by attending appropriate training centres
Key Skills / Qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management (or working towards)
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a post graduate surveying role
- Excellent communication skills at all levels including IT
- Self-motivated and resilient with excellent organisational skills
- Hardworking, flexible, and reliable with good attention to detail
- Adaptable and works well under pressure
- Customer focused with excellent relationship management skills.
