Ackerman Pierce work closely with County Councils and Schools to provide one to one tutoring for children waiting for school placements. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEN /HLTA's/LSA's/Tutors/Teachers.

We are currently recruiting for LSA's to provide face to face support to our Tutors and SEND Students in Bury St Edmunds. The role is to start ASAP.

  • End date (if applicable) - ongoing
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Full time/part time - Part time and Full time available
  • Rate of pay - £15 - £23 per hour
  • Hours - Tuition must take place between 0830am and 1630pm Monday - Friday (Term time only)

We are looking for candidates who are:-

  • Available during school hours up to 30 hours per week.
  • Experienced supporting young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including SEMH/ASD/MLD/SpLD
  • Exceptional behaviour management strategies.
  • Prepared to work face to face within the community or young persons home.

LSA responsibilities:

  • Motivate pupils to achieve beyond their potential.
  • Assist Tutors to plan learning activities, prepare learning materials, complete records, and carry out administrative tasks.
  • Help children to understand instructions.
  • Provide feedback on the young person's progress.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils and understand their needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback in a way that reinforces pupils' self-esteem.
  • Handle complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.
  • Work effectively and supportively as a member of a team.

Requirements

  • Experience in supporting pupils in a classroom environment, with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and Maths.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Fluent levels of spoken and written English.
  • You must also pass an enhanced background (DBS) check.
