We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Support Officer at Bury Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 10 months, with the possibility of extension.
What is the role?
Bury Council are looking for a Business Support Officer to provide effective and comprehensive business support by working as part of a team, and to contribute to excellent service delivery through the provision of more specialist/technical administration duties within the Family Safeguarding team.Â
What are your responsibilities?
- Children’s Services places the interests of children firmly at the centre of everything we do, working with families to offer quality advice, support, and guidance; build children's confidence, self-esteem and prepare them for life ahead.
- Family Safeguarding is a new and innovative way of working in the child protection field. Multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding Teams bring together children’s social workers, mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse specialists to take a whole family approach and improve information sharing, efficiency and outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
- We are looking for an organised, self-motivated, and professional individual who is able to provide a high level of administrative support. You will be working in a rewarding and fast paced environment, minute taking at Group Supervision meetings, setting up meetings and processing safeguarding checks, as part of a team. You will enjoy working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy.
- Retrieve information from computerised databases, manipulate data, create non-standard reports, and correct errors.
- Type and produce presentations using a computerised presentation package and to format existing presentations.
- Assist with developing and introducing new office and information systems.
- Cross-check various systems to ensure consistency between them.
- Analyse and validate service specific information, requesting additional details or clarification, as required.
- Provide accurate research and analysis support where required and produce a range of high-quality communication, such as reports and briefing notes for various audiences and purposes including complex, confidential, and sensitive correspondence.
- Coordinate and organise business support for seminars and large events.
- Prepare papers, agendas and undertake progress chasing.
- Monitor and maintain budget information relating to projects the job holder could be involved in.
- Analyse statistical and financial information and provide information to others.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of service area to be able to respond to more complex queries.
What skills do you Need?
- Must have previous experience as a Business Support Officer / Administrator.
- Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, and other members of staff.
- Strong IT Skills, as you will be using Microsoft office packages including word and excel, as well as internal council systems as well.
- Excellent telephone manner
- Minute taking experience would be desirable
- Full time 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.45am – 17.00pm
