Mechanical Design Engineer

Yolk Recruitment is partnered with a global leader in its specialist field as it continues to grow, and has created a new opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

A consistent stream of successful NPD alongside advances in sustaining engineering projects have resulted in significant growth over the last 5 years, and with a stream of exciting NPD projects ahead a new opportunity has been created offering variety, technical challenge the kinds of career opportunities that are only available in such a high growth business.

This is what you'll be doing:

  • Act as a site Mechanical lead in a multi-disciplined team of Development Engineers
  • Develop and design robust products, with involvement in the full product lifecycle
  • Contribute to the optimisation of existing products / sustaining engineering projects
  • Communicate with subcontract manufacturers, assessing capabilities and solving technical issues
  • Regularly liaise with internal stakeholders - Quality, Production, Procurement, to solve technical issues
  • Create and manage all data necessary for design files - 2D, 3D, general arrangements.
  • Develop existing product in line with customer feedback and optimisation projects
  • Support product testing strategies

This is what you'll bring

  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Relevant experience in a Mechanical Design / Development / R&D role
  • Experience in a regulated sector working to formal standards is advantageous - e.g. aerospace, automotive, medical
  • Knowledge of flexible materials is advantageous
  • Project management experience is advantageous
