We are looking for a skilled Workshop Technician to join a Cambridge based company supporting RandD activities within their laboratories. You will work closely with other members of the technical team to provide key support and guidance.
Responsibilities
* Supporting research with design, development and manufacture of experimental equipment, sourcing and ordering components for mechanical rigs and collating results
* Maintenance and running of labs, providing training on equipment when required, offering technical advice and maintaining adequate stocks
* Ensuring codes of practice and safety regulations are implemented
* Manufacture of parts and specimens, selecting the most appropriate materials, components and manufacturing methods to make specialist parts for mechanical engineering rigs to a high quality, taking into account performance, time and available funding
Requirements
* Educated to HNC / HND level with a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or similar practical experience
* Sound IT and communication skills
* Practical experience in general engineering research and the ability to teach / train others
* Familiar with a wide range of workshop machinery and techniques
* Ability to manufacture parts to a high degree of precision and accuracy
* Experience with CNC machinery and manual machining
