SEN Support Worker

Academics is currently seeking an experienced SEN Support Worker to provide 1:1 educational and emotional support for a KS2 pupil with severe and complex needs who is currently educated outside of a school setting.
The Role:
As an SEN Support Worker, you will:
Deliver structured learning sessions tailored to the child's EHCP targets.
Support the pupil's communication, sensory, and emotional needs using specialist strategies.
Provide a nurturing, consistent, and safe learning environment in the home or community setting.
Work closely with parents, external professionals, and Through Academics coordinators to ensure progress and wellbeing.
Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence through positive, personalised support.
About You:
We're looking for a calm, compassionate, and creative individual who is committed to supporting children with complex needs.
Essential:
Experience supporting children with severe or complex SEN (e.g. Autism, Global Developmental Delay, non-verbal communication).
A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated learning activities.
Desirable:
Experience working 1:1 outside of school (e.g. home tuition or outreach support).
Qualifications in Education, SEN, Childcare, Psychology, or related fields.
Training in PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration (advantageous but not essential).
