REED Procurement are partnered with a lovely Manufacturing company in Cardiff who are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their friendly and experienced team.  As Assistant Buyer you’ll handle a variety of tasks within the procurement function. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth execution of purchasing processes, optimising production schedules, and leveraging our ERP system to boost the effectiveness of our supply chain. The organisation have always developed their staff and promoted from within, so offers prospects to progress up to Buyer level too.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage routine procurement tasks for a diverse array of materials, including order processing, tracking deliveries, inventory management, and resolving inquiries from internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Keep the ERP system up to date with the latest data to facilitate accurate tracking of essential metrics such as procurement lead times, delivery schedules, and cost management.
  • Work in tandem with the production department to align inventory levels with production schedules, and maintain open lines of communication with suppliers to stay informed about any changes in delivery timelines.
  • Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with suppliers to ensure they are aligned with the company’s operational requirements.
  • Identify and communicate any potential supply chain disruptions to the procurement team promptly.
  • Handle the compilation and analysis of KPIs, as well as the administration of corrective and preventive actions, non-conformance reports, and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with all company quality standards, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in supply chain management or related fields.
  • Skilled in the use of ERP systems for supply chain management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for effective supplier engagement.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
