Job Title:                       Claims Handler.

       Job Summary:          To provide claims advice and support to the claims team.

        Accountability:          To the Department Manager, Operations Manager and Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing advice to the customer on reporting an accident and making a claim and the procedure involved.
  2. Processing new insurance claims notifications and gathering the correct information to proceed with the claim.
  3. Valuing general damages independently without the aid of system-based valuation tools, using the Judicial College Guidelines.
  4. Good negotiating skills and ensuring losses are settled on best possible terms.
  5. Making sure premiums have been paid and that policies cover the claim.
  6. MOJ portal experience and ensuring MOJ time frames are adhered to.
  7. Experienced in assessing liability and knowledge of recent case law and RTA.
  8. Assessing Third Party property damage including total loss, vehicle repairs and uninsured loss claims.
  9. Assessing special damage claims including vehicle repairs, credit hire, credit repair, loss of earnings and all uninsured loss claims to ensure that it satisfies policy conditions.
  10. Liaising with solicitors and other legal and claims professionals and negotiating the terms of a claim.
  11. Explaining to policyholders when their claim is not covered and referring doubtful, complex or high-value claims to the Claims manager.
  12. Building positive relationships with the team to achieve targets, call monitoring and FCA Standards and GDPR guidelines.
  13. Demonstrating the fair treatment of customers during all customer contact and championing our company values.
  14. Utilising and managing the NCS in-house system and keeping accurate customer records.
  15. Keeping up to date with our insurance products and procedures and providing a great level of service to all customers in a fast-paced environment.
  16. To attend training sessions/workshops.
  17. To maintain an awareness of Health and Safety regulations.
  18. To carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job. Essential Skills:
