CNC Recruitment is seeking for a Planning  and Estimating Enginner to join our prestigious client in Chard area - a well respcted enginnering manufacturer. 

As a  Planning and Estimating Engineer you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and optimizing project cost estimates and schedules to ensure efficient project execution and completion within budget. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather necessary information, prepare detailed cost estimates, create comprehensive project schedules, and continuously monitor project progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects based on specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents.
  • Analyze and evaluate different cost elements, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Utilize cost estimation software and tools to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost projections.
  • Review historical data and industry benchmarks to ensure cost estimates are competitive and realistic.

Project Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive project schedules, including timelines, milestones, and critical path analysis.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for planning and scheduling.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules as needed to reflect any changes or delays.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Perform detailed analysis of project costs and schedules to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on project status, including budget vs. actual cost, schedule adherence, and forecasted completion.
  • Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and process improvements based on data analysis.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance departments.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions to review project plans, progress, and any potential issues.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives, costs, and timelines.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all cost estimates and project schedules comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures to maintain the accuracy and reliability of cost and schedule estimates.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in project estimation and planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project planning and cost estimation, preferably in the engineering industry
  • Essential computer skills , word, excel, outlook, internet, teams.

Skills:

ERP skills

Good communication skills, internal and externally ( Customer facing).

Verbal and written.

Team player.

Essential:

Be able to read a drawing and identify key items with in it.

Metric and imperial measurements.

Tolerances

Material grades – support offered from team.

Finish treatments – support offer from team.

Machining process

Developing project plans and schedules in collaboration with stakeholders.

Creating detailed project reports outlining budgets and timelines.

Monitoring project progress and identifying potential issues.

Developing risk management plans and contingency plans.
