Location: Chard

Salary: 12 per hour, annual 24,960

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday - Thursday: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Friday: 7:30 am - 1:30 pm

About Us: We are recruiting sewing machinists for a trendy office furniture manufacturer outside of Chard. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled sewers to work in a fun, production environment; producing beautiful bespoke furnishings.

Responsibilities:

Cutting and sewing fabrics for furniture manufacture on flat and overlock machines including using cutting machine
Cutting and shaping materials with hand and machine tools
Working out the quantity and type of materials needed
Setting the cutting machine
Sewing different fabric types
Changing machine settings
Checking finished work against the pattern instructions
Cleaning and routine daily maintenance on machines
Sewing different fabrics like cotton, wool, leather, or industrial textiles

Requirements:

Previous experience as a sewing machinist or similar role
Proficiency in operating flat and overlock sewing machines
Ability to work with various fabric types including cotton, wool, leather, or industrial textiles
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow pattern instructions
Excellent time management skills
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques
Positive attitude and team player mentality
