Senior Social Worker – Long Term Locality TeamSalary: Up to £51,130 per annum We are recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join the Long Term Locality Team within Medway Council’s Adult Social Care service. This role provides professional leadership, supervision, and expertise to ensure high-quality, person-centred services for adults across the community.Main Purpose of the Role You will oversee and supervise a small number of social care staff, supporting their development through training, coaching, and mentoring. Alongside this, you will manage a complex caseload, demonstrating effective practice in challenging situations and ensuring safeguarding and welfare are prioritised.In collaboration with team managers and senior colleagues, you will play a key role in empowering Medway residents to maintain independence through early intervention, strength-based assessments, and holistic support. You will also contribute to service development, audits, and quality assurance, ensuring continuous improvement in practice and outcomes.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional advice, guidance, and oversight to colleagues.
  • Carry a complex caseload, managing higher levels of risk.
  • Deliver supervision, mentoring, and professional support to staff.
  • Ensure high standards of practice and contribute to service improvement.
  • Lead on audits, quality assurance, and areas of service development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and partner agencies.
Requirements
  • Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and strength-based practice.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Desirable: Practice Educator qualification, Best Interest Assessor or AMHP, or willingness to work towards.Package & Benefits
