Electromechanical Fitter Job Overview
My client is seeking an Electromechanical Fitter/Installer to join their growing automation engineering business. You will work on the design, build, and installation of bespoke automation systems, including conveyors, robotics, process and packaging machinery, and vision inspection systems.
You will work both in-house and on customer sites, taking responsibility for the mechanical assembly of machinery and systems. Projects are highly varied, offering experience across multiple industries-predominantly food & beverage and plastics. Some basic electrical work may be required, so flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential.
Travel is typically 30-40%, mainly across the UK, USA, and Canada. Assignments can range from short day trips to up to two-week international visits, with generous daily allowances and quality accommodation provided.
Electromechanical Fitter Job Requirements
- Apprentice-trained and/or qualified Mechanical and/or Electrical Fitter/Assembler
- Minimum 3 years' experience building or installing industrial machinery/conveyors
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and method statements
- Experience with electric/pneumatic systems, valves, and medium-sized assemblies
- Knowledge of health & safety, preferably in hygienic environments
- Strong attention to detail and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with a 'can do' attitude
- Willing to travel and work away from home
- Trustworthy, professional, and a strong communicator
- Full UK driving licence (max 3 points) and British/EU passport holder
Electromechanical Fitter Salary & Benefits
- 15.00-17.50 per hour (dependent on skills and experience)
