Safety Engineer & Facilities Manager - Up to £43,000 - Manufacturing

H9 have been retained by a Paper Manufacturing business in Deeside who are looking for a technically led Safety Engineer and Facilities Manager.

You will be responsible for the maintaining high safety standards across all areas of the business within a practical and advisory manner whilst ensuring all facilities across the business are maintained.

An Engineering qualification and/or high level of experience is required and you will preferably be H&S qualified at a NEBOSH (level 3) or IOSH equivalent, experience in facilities management and contractor control. However the client is happy to fund the H&S qualification if you don't currently hold one.

Key Tasks

  • Be an active member of the H&S Management team for the company - Advise on all matter relating to H&S.
  • Accident, Risk/Fire risk Assessments - review, perform, write up and advice on actions, co-ordinate and perform with external source, complete investigations, advice on any actions.
  • Responsible for all racking maintenance, completing checks and communicating with external supplier on monthly checks they complete.
  • COSHH assessment - complete and maintain register.
  • Hazardous waste disposal/Gas tanks - management process, ensure tanks are maintained and inspected by qualified external source.
  • Take part in external audits as required.
  • Manage all facilities across the business ensuring all repair / service requests are coordinated and controlled to completion. Including electrical supply, repairs, plumbing and drains, buildings, floor repairs, barriers, roof work, solar panels etc.
  • Biomass boiler - management all elements of the boiler ensuring a continued supply of woodchip and heat to the facility.
  • External servicing - communicate and management timing for external servicing and checks.
  • Project Management - review and create project plan including RCA and budget projections, justifications as required.
