We’re looking for a Materials Handling Technician. Based at our Capenhurst site you’ll report to the Materials Handling Team Leader. A member of a team providing a materials handling service associated with the receipt, inspection, movement, storage and despatch of hex cylinders to meet demanding schedules, which contribute to the efficient operation of enrichment plants and meet all Urenco business plan and customer needs.

What you’ll do:
• Carries out cylinder handling, inspection, monitoring and transport activities safely, efficiently and to required quality standards, working to defined procedures and strict regulatory requirements
• Ensures cylinders are delivered to the enrichment plants on time and ensures all receipt and dispatch operations are carried out in accordance with delivery schedules and customer requirements
• Collects and records defined data, conducts checks, tests, calibrations and associated calculations, reports problems or abnormal conditions taking action to resolve those within own capability and authority.
• Uses SAP or bar code reader equipment for control of cylinder movements and locations.
• Communicates with others in order to determine customer needs, provides appropriate feedback and maintains continuity of work.
• Handles and monitors radioactive material and their containers and surveys working areas to ensure contamination levels and dose rates are kept within required limits.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
• Secondary vocational education. Ideally Grade C in Maths and English or a relevant NVQ qualification.
• Good manual dexterity with required knowledge of and ability to use tools, drive vehicles and operate cranes
• Verbal and written communication skills for task related duties with additional skills required for formal training and delivery
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Proficient in the use of site computer systems and applications as appropriate for the role (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, email).
