Project Manager

JOB PURPOSE
The decommissioning & projects team manage a range of small to medium sized projects related to nuclear decommissioning, building, demolition, installations and refurbishment each with a budget in the range of £0.5M to £50M the role is to provide full Project Management of a number of internal & external projects.

JOB DIMENSIONS

Responsible for full project lifecycle management (Start-up, Set-up, Design, Execution, Acceptance & Commissioning, Final Acceptance & Handover and Project Closure) to URENCO Group Process.

  • Manage Projects from conception to completion.
  • Lead and ensure all design activities or physical works successfully deliver all agreed Project deliverables.
  • Manage design and construction interfaces within the Project, attending and providing SQEP input at risk reviews, HAZCONs, HAZIDs etc.
  • Manage supply chain ensuring agreed contractual deliverables are achieved on time, within budget and with Zero Harm.
  • Manage commissioning activities for new plant and equipment.
  • Sequence all Project works and liaise with nuclear waste engineers to optimise waste disposal solutions and adherence to approved Project Waste Management Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with defined safety, environmental, site license requirements and security standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for all Project Management, technical, CDM required documentation and reports associated with the Project (e.g. Project Management Plans, Pre-construction Information, Construction Phase Plans, and Highlight Reports etc.).
  • Responsible for delivery of compliant safety documentation, Plant Modification Proposals and Quality Plans for the Project.
  • Responsible for the identification of Project risks and mitigating actions, the development of cost and schedules of works and the successful implementation of works.
  • Review of contractor’s tender documentation and plans of work during the tender evaluation process.
  • Liaison with Licensee, Operation, Maintenance, Projects and Tenant oversight functions to gain approval of work and shared service aspects.
  • Managing Readiness reviews and Quality Plan through the Project lifecycle.
  • Manage external specialist planning consultancy to understand Project impact to current planning permission guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects associated with the relevant Local Authority / Planning Permissions are adhered to.
  • Responsible for all documents in compliance with Project Management and Change Management processes, for example Project Initiation Documents, Project Briefs, User Requirement Specifications, Security Plans, Stakeholder Management Plan and Communication Plans.
  • Lead all Project LFE development and monitoring.
  • Responsible for production of monthly Highlight Reports to UNS Senior Management on project performance.
  • Responsible for the delivery of weekly / bi-weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions.
  • Ensure detailed site diaries/records are completed.
  • Responsible for the resourcing (human & physical) control for all aspects of the Project lifecycle including liaising with Functional Managers.
  • Responsible for Project funding strategy, sequencing and change management control.
  • Manage detailed delivery of FEED activities ensuring maximum project delivery efficiency.
  • Manage all aspects of Key Stakeholders and their expectations throughout Project lifecycle.

Health and Safety

  • By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations
  • Ensure all HSSE-related documents are kept up to date Produce monthly reports
  • Ensure event and actions are managed through the REACT system inline with the specified time frames
  • Allocate HSSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding
  • Ensure effective supervision of contractors
  • Compile / review RAMS in support of delivering the SSOW.
  • Prepare Health and Safety Plans and other supporting documentation as required under CDM2015
  • Ensure sufficient SQEP resource is available for safe delivery of work packages.
  • Contractor Representative Level 1 for multiple discipline contract awards across the UNS portfolio.

SPECIFIC KNOW-HOW AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Practical aptitude and willing to engage directly with front line workers and work with these groups to develop pragmatic plans for works.
  • A strong personality willing to challenge and coach others to ensure safety and quality standards as well as project progress are maintained.
  • IT skills, including Windows and Microsoft applications. Ability to use or learn to use specialist software packages (e.g. system modelling packages).
  • Capable of recognising and producing high quality technical and project delivery documentation including functional and technical specifications and project documentation.
  • Ability to manage own workload and drive delivery of actions and programmes of work.
  • Proven ability to produce documentation to high standards of safety, cost, quality and time.
  • A flexible attitude with the ability and willingness to support other related activities as required.
