Job Description
As a business development manager, you will be responsible for developing new business from a supplied industry list of potential clients, from sourcing and onboarding your own client accounts and with existing clients. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves the challenge of generating new business, is driven by hitting goals and targets, and has excellent people skills. You will be working with B2B clients across all sectors and all types of business to generate leads, assist with client communications, and support the sales process from initial contact through to closing deals. Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships- or new ways of reaching existing markets.
Create strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities.
Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation.
Generate leads and call prospective customers.
Meet with customers/clients face to face and online.
Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients.
Possess a strong understanding of the companys products, the competition in the industry and positioning.
Collaborate with Design and Technical teams to ensure that customer requirements are met.
Use available resources to develop effective sales calls. These resources include opportunities identified by an industry list of potential clients
Sell new and existing products, discover new opportunities, and secure incremental business
Provide timely communication and follow-up to customers, consistently meeting the customers expectations
Provide pertinent market and competitive information to the board
Work in harmony with ISO requirements, and company policies and procedures, including security policies.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
Developing new business opportunities with existing clients as well as winning new client accounts
Learning and understanding our target audience, clients, services, and processes to effectively communicate our value proposition
Engaging with clients and prospective clients via phone calls, emails, LinkedIn messaging, and in-person meetings, establishing and nurturing strong relationships
Working on upselling and cross-selling opportunities by identifying clients needs and how our products can meet those needs
Managing and updating our CRM system with accurate client information
Collaborating with our in-house teams to create compelling proposals that showcase our capabilities and meet clients specific needs
Arranging scoping meetings/appointments with prospective clients
Providing exceptional customer service and support to existing and prospective clients
Managing and supporting the sales team in achieving goals and targets
Participating in sales meetings and contributing to strategy discussions
Essential Criteria
HND/BTEC in Engineering or Business or equivalent experience
A minimum of 5 years business development or sales experience
Experience of managing key accounts / customer service
Highly motivated and success driven
Exceptional communication (verbal and written), leadership and presentation skills
Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills
Demonstrable experience developing new business with a track record of pipeline development and the successful achievement of New Business led targets
Good computer/IT skills with high level of competency in all Microsoft Office and CRM packages
Flexible to travel to customer sites and head office
Numerate
Ability to work under pressure
Valid Clean UK Driving Licence

Previous sales experience in a Business to Business environment
Experience of managing a sales team
