LTF Recruitment is closely collaborating with a primary school in Chesterfield to fill the position of a SEND Assistant. The chosen candidates will work closely with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to provide outstanding care to children with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, and ADD. Prospective candidates should be qualified and possess relevant experience to tackle the challenges of this role.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support to students, both individually and in smaller group settings.
  • Ensuring the provision of care and suitable learning opportunities for assigned children.
  • Supervising children and ensuring their safety.
  • Maintaining regular communication with parents/carers, providing them with daily activity updates.
  • Keeping the Class Teacher/SENDCo informed about the child's academic, social, and physical progress.

The ideal candidate will have:A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Desirable experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, challenging behavior, and developmental delays.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Quick thinking and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong behavior management skills while creating an engaging learning environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
