Health and Safety Manager

• Reports to: Head of Health and Safety
• Location: Chichester
• Salary: Up to £36,000
• Type: 37 hours per week

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Chichester.

Role Purpose

• Line manage and provide support to the Health and Safety Officers
• To act in the absence of the Head of Health and Safety.
• Work with the Head of Health and Safety in ensuring compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety Legislation.

Main Duties

• To carry out Health and Safety risk assessments where required. e.g., Fire Risk Assessment, COSHH Assessments, Health and Safety risk assessments
• To provide guidance and support to all departments to ensure compliance with Health and Safety Legislation.
• Assist in ensuring all departments have suitable, up to date and sufficient risk assessments in place and that these are adhered to.
• Ensure the appropriate first aid provisions are in place and co-ordinate the first aid courses for their area including communications with the license company.
• Undertake inspections of buildings and produce reports detailing required actions and ensure follow up actions are undertaken
• Ensure the Groups Health and Safety management systems are maintained and up to date and prepare reports as required.
• To investigate accidents or incidents that occur and report findings to the Head of Health and Safety
• Manage and maintain central Health and Safety training records.
• Take a leading role in emergency evacuations where required.

Requirements

• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
• Experience of Health and Safety legislation
• Experience undertaking of risk assessments
• Experience developing Health and Safety processes
• First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to obtain
• Able to pass a DBS check
• No previous convictions
