Purpose of the Role:

As an Clinical Lead, you will play a crucial role in providing specialist one-to-one support, guidance, and practical solutions for families, focusing on three Dorset-based care homes . Dementia UK will support you in maintaining and strengthening your clinical and leadership expertise through regular clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dementia Expertise: Stay updated on the latest research, treatments, and best practices in dementia care to provide specialised knowledge and expertise.
  • Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop personalised care plans, and consider the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals.
  • Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to individuals and their families, providing a listening ear, guidance, and reassurance during difficult times.
  • Education and Advice: Provide education and practical advice to staff and families, helping them understand dementia and its progression.
  • Coordination of Care: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care, coordinating services and facilitating access to support networks.
  • Training and Consultancy: Provide training and consultancy services to staff in care homes, sharing expertise and promoting best practices in dementia care.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience supporting people with dementia and their carers/families
  • Leadership experience in a service-specific setting, supporting practice development, quality improvement, and service evaluation
  • Understanding of local/national skills and competency frameworks
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel between care homes
  • Submission of a personal statement with the CV explaining the interest in the role

Education and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN/RNMH/RNLD)
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field

Please note that candidates should complete the 'Pre-Admiral Nursing Module' to prepare for the role.
