A long-established and reputable accountancy practice with a strong regional presence is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing team. The firm provides tailored tax, audit and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, and offers a supportive working environment with genuine opportunities for progression.

The Role

This is a key position within the tax team, suitable for a qualified and experienced professional with a background in accountancy practice. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of tax clients and will be involved in both compliance and advisory work. The firm is open to applicants with a background in corporate, personal or mixed tax, and the role can be shaped around the individual’s strengths.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing and developing a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all tax-related matters

  • Preparing and reviewing self-assessment and/or corporation tax returns

  • Providing proactive tax planning and advisory services in areas such as remuneration planning, R&D claims, inheritance tax, and business structuring

  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team, including reviewing their work

  • Liaising with HMRC and other relevant bodies on behalf of clients

  • Assisting senior management with complex queries and high-value advisory projects

  • Ensuring all compliance work is delivered accurately and within statutory deadlines

  • Identifying opportunities to add value for clients and grow the firm’s tax service offering

Candidate Requirements
  • CTA qualified (or ACA/ACCA with strong tax experience)

  • Proven experience in a tax role within accountancy practice

  • Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and reporting requirements

  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills

  • Proactive and commercially aware, with a hands-on and solutions-focused approach

  • Experience using tax software such as CCH, IRIS or similar
