Head Bartender

Join our client's bar team as an Head Bartender at a leading events venue nestled in the beautiful Essex countryside near Kelvedon. Our client offers versatile event spaces for weddings, private hire, corporate events, and has an onsite restaurant, all committed to delivering top-notch services to customers.

As they continue to expand, they seek a talented and experienced bartender to lead their bar staff and run the bar area’s . They will also be responsible for the staff in their section and need to coordinate and delegate duties to ensure their section runs smoothly, and is in constant communication with other sections to ensure faultless timings and a good level of collaboration at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the highest quality beverages appropriate to the market.
  • Adheres to company standards of beverage quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation.
  • Assists in ensuring proper staffing and adequate supplies for the bar and lounge.
  • Supervises the proper set-up of each item on the drink menus and ensures their readiness.
  • Assists in budgetary and payroll expense control as required.
  • Works closely with management and bar staff to ensure correct preparation and delivery times are kept and quality is maintained.
  • Checking and ordering fresh products and dry storage items required by the bar.
  • Encourages increased communication between the bar and service staff, checking the restaurant reservations regularly.
  • Ensures readiness and makes priorities in case of last-minute changes to reservations.
  • Supervises all bar staff, and the steward function.
  • Utilises supervisory skills and motivation to maximise employee productivity and satisfaction.
  • Helps employees to achieve optimum quality while minimising cost.
  • Adheres to all health, sanitation and food safety rules and regulations, and makes sure all staff adheres to these.
  • Ensures that all potential hazards are reported and reduced immediately.
  • Ensures that employees work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others.
  • Checks that the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct is maintained by all employees in the department.
  • Confers closely and regularly with and to carry out any other duties as directed by Restaurant Manager and General Manager.
  • Maintains an exact record of preparation and presentation specifications of all drinks produced in a file which is kept at the bar at all times for reference.
  • Creating and assisting in documentation of beverages for staff training and giving training to staff.
  • Ensuring licensing laws are followed.
  • Actively participate in assisting to achieve departmental goals and objectives and carry out assigned work by General Manager and Restaurant Manager.
  • Actively engage in your own personal development to benefit the business and improve your personal skills – probationary period reviews, annual appraisals, attending training and development courses.
  • Actively participate in weekly/monthly departmental meetings and any other meetings that you are required to attend.
  • Actively participate in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a fast paced kitchen.
  • Ideally leadership skills or experience
  • Knows how to follow applicable laws regarding food safety and sanitation.
  • Flexibility to work when needed and assist in workload of others
  • Excellent command of English language (Written and spoken)
  • Ability to communicate with customers and peers with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, continuously seeking to succeed and progress in career within the company.
  • Extremely flexible and committed.
  • Lively, enthusiastic and confident.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations successfully.
  • Good organisational skills.

Benefits:

  • Our client offers a competitive remuneration package, based on previous experience and qualifications, offering a salary of £26,000-£29,000 per annum.
