Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have experience or an interest in speech and language development? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in speech and language support.

Location: Primary School in Colchester 

About the Role SEN Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language :

As a SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in speech and language, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with communication difficulties. You will work closely with our SENCO and teaching staff to provide tailored support and interventions to help students overcome barriers to learning. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with speech and language difficulties
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies
  • Assisting students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed
  • Supporting the development of speech and language skills through targeted interventions and activities
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and participation
  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers and other stakeholders

SEN Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with speech and language difficulties is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of all students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and grow in the role
