Draig Recruitment are currently hiring on behalf of a special school in Colwyn Bay who cater for children with a variety of needs. This alternative provision caters for children ages 11-16 years. As a Sports Coach, you will support individual students one-to-one with literacy, numeracy and other core subjects. Alternative provisions are for students who can't attend mainstream schools, usually due to social, emotional, mental health and anxiety disorders, autism, or ADHD.

If you have any additional hobbies or subject skills, and can incorporate these into lessons, this would be an advantage for this role. Hobbies may include cooking, sports subjects, woodwork, mechanics, dancing, Art etc.

Hours of work between Monday to Friday 8:45am-3:30pm. Pays a min of £76-£84 per day.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Experience working with children
  • Experience of supporting children or young people with mental health difficulties
  • Understanding of self-harm, delicate students, eating and nervous disorders
  • Be supportive, patient, sensitive
  • Have resilience in managing challenging situations
  • Ability to use de-escalation techniques if required
  • Experience in alternative subjects; sports, cooking, mechanics is desired

Additional requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • References confirming suitability for role
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willing to apply
  • EWC registration or willing to apply
  • Safeguarding training or willing to take a free course with us
