BSL Teaching Assistant

Connex Education is currently recruiting a British Sign Language, Teaching Assistant to work at a Primary School based in Coventry, West Midlands on a full-time basis.

Start date: September 2024
End date: July 2025 (perm potential)  
Contract: Long Term, supply/ temp-perm

Our client school is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant, with knowledge of BSL to join their talented team in providing a bespoke provision for pupils with hearing impairment.

You will be required to work on a one-to-one basis, with a Primary aged pupil who is profoundly deaf to help with their educational and social development.

It is vital that the successful Teaching Assistant has experience of working towards outcomes outlined in the student’s educational health and care plan (EHCP) while creating an engaging and supportive work environment.

The provision is committed to an inclusive approach to education, based on their pupils needs and is an integral part of the social community. This is a great opportunity for a BSL Teaching Assistant or Communication Support Worker to join a thriving School, with great CPD aspects.

Experience/Requirements:

–         Level 2 or 3 qualified in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning

–         BSL Level 2 minimum

–         An enhanced DBS on the update service or prepared to apply for a new one

–         A relevant teaching assistant qualification

–         A minimum of 1 years’ experience working with hearing impairments

–         A positive and nurturing approach to working with complex needs students
